We have  experienced different generations of the Internet, from web 1.0, web 2.0 and we are about to experience a paradigm shift to web 3.0 which gives user’s autonomy.

The term Web 1.0 didn’t appear until the term Web 2.0 was becoming popular among users. During that time, the web was undergoing a major transformation. Most websites in the 1990s had originally been built with static HTML pages, and a few simple styles embedded in the HTML markup.

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, interactive website features redefined what could be accomplished in a web browser and marked a major point of evolution in the world of web development.

One of the major characteristics of web 1.0 is  Static pages, Pages didn’t offer interactive features that changed based on website visitor behaviour.

Web 2.0 is the term used to describe a variety of web sites and applications that allow anyone to create and share online information or material they have created. A key element of the technology is that it allows people to create, share, collaborate & communicate.

Web 2.0 differs from other types of websites as it does not require any web design or publishing skills to participate, making it easy for people to create and publish or communicate their work to the world.

The nature of this technology makes it an easy and popular way to communicate information to either a select group of people or to a much wider audience.

Web 3.0 is the new generation of internet services that utilizes advanced machine-based learning and artificial intelligence to connect web-based applications together and form a more personalized web.

The adoption of Web 3.0 is sequel to the monopoly of Web 2.0 and the governments, while bridging the gap between users and the data they provide to organizations.

Web 3.0 is collectively designed to offer users more user-tailored content at a much faster rate than ever before. This new web will utilize AI-powered search algorithms, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and enhanced data analytics to make this possible.

With Web 3.0, we visualize the next phase of the internet — the “read, write and trust web.” Web 3.0 is a conscious effort to build an internet that works for everyone via peer-to-peer transactions, user-controlled data, relevancy, privacy and monetization. Blockchain, along with advancements in machine learning, has an important role in the implementation of this vision.
